Sage Music School is located in an old historic part of Queens, which has quickly become a premiere neighborhood in New York City. With many artists and musicians who live and work in the neighborhood, gorgeous waterfront views, an amazing arts festival, several local concert series (including LIC Concerts, which we produce), and a one-stop train ride to Manhattan or North Brooklyn on several of the 9 subway lines that serve Long Island City, it’s no surprise our neighborhood has become so popular.
With such a diverse population, and with such rapid growth and change, we believe that it is more important than ever to have a safe space for members of our community to connect. We are proud to connect them through music. We offer music lessons for all, school events, and free public concerts in our community.
Voted the best art school in Queens by boro residents, we offer music lessons and classes to students of all ages and abilities, who reflect the diverse population in our neighborhood and boro. Adults are also welcome! Students here can study the voice, or any number of musical instruments including guitar, piano, violin, clarinet, flute, cello, drums, trumpet, and more.

We also have a special set of group classes for children, for those students not yet old enough for private music lessons.
It is important for students to have a quality musical instrument on which to practice and perform. Many students underestimate the difficulties of trying to study music on an instrument which is hard to play. For this reason our school keeps a variety of high quality instruments, including a concert Steinway piano, on location for students and faculty to use. We also rent high quality instruments at below market rates to our students who cannot afford to purchase a suitable instrument right away. That’s just one of the many ways we work to enable our students’ success.
Our music teachers hold degrees in either music performance, or music education. They are then trained in the school’s methods and philosophy in order to deliver the best lessons possible to you. As a group, they are excellent performers, and even more dedicated teachers. Check them out here.
