sage : \ ˈsāj \ wise through reflection and experience

Our Arpeggio® lesson system – backed by learning science – will help you learn guitar quickly and easily with direction in a structured and step-by-step way. Plus we’ll teach you what to do, how to learn it, and why you’re doing it.
We know you’ll get the best results because our students see steady progress. So we’d never need to lock you into a contract. Yet students stay with us 3x longer than other schools. Get in touch to see why now.
Believe it or not 63.8% of our students are adults
Whether you want to be a professional musician or have had lifelong dreams of playing music, you’ll find yourself in good company at Sage Music.
Our students range from absolute beginners to intermediate players to advanced professionals looking to improve their skills and practice.
No matter what you want to learn, we’ll get you there.
Don’t want to play kids songs? No worry! We’ll work with you to help you play the music that you want. We personalize our lessons for you.
Sometimes we can jump right in with what you want, but other times it takes a little prep work. But we’ll always get you there.
In fact, most of our guitar students are adult beginners. So you’ll find a welcoming environment with a team that knows how to work with folks just like you.
Contrary to popular opinion, learning chords is not the easiest way to begin. That requires the ability to move 4 fingers in opposite directions at the same time - not an easy task!
Our progressive methods will get you playing quickly, with easily digestible guitar lessons.
As an advancing guitarist, we’ve got the skills to get your guitar playing to the next level. We’ve worked with beginners and pros, so we know exactly how to get you from one level to the next.
At this stage, you should have learned the basics of the guitar. We'll focus on helping you learn increasingly difficult music and technique.
Our students have included cast members of Saturday Night Live, Broadway performers, and producers. We’ve even helped students prepare for graduate degree auditions.
We go above and beyond other programs by developing more advanced skills, practice habits, and learning techniques. You’ll learn more music, in a shorter amount of time, and with greater skill and security.
Whether you need to work on advanced finger picking, classical technique, sweeps or other advanced pick technique, we've got you covered.
Develop your child’s skills in a fun and engaging way
Just like you, we want to see your kid have fun, enjoy music, and grow into a capable, successful adult. And we also know you want a program you can trust because you are busy with so many things.
That’s what we’ve designed our Arpeggio® lesson system to do. Systems such as Suzuki, ABRSM, the Royal Conservatory simply provide a sequence of songs to play. But our system is designed to develop your child’s skills, enabling them to play any music they want. That’s real growth, and real learning.
In addition, our system provides you with detailed notes every week so you can stay in touch with your child’s development. Plus your child will have the opportunity to perform every week in our student sharing hour, in our open mics, or in our regular recitals. This gives you results that you and your child can see.
Guitar lessons for kids require some extra attention and care. Often, students will have a guitar that is too big, which makes it uncomfortable to play. Or they start with difficult things like playing chords...which contrary to popular opinion is not an easy place to start.
Our teachers will build progressive, step by step methods that get your child playing the guitar well.
If your child has shown a committed interest in the guitar, you need someone who can take them to the next level. That's not just about playing the guitar, but also finding the right guitar or amplifier. Perhaps it's preparing for an audition, or gaining experience in a band or ensemble. No matter your child's direction, we can help them advance successfully on the guitar.
If your child has shown exceptional promise on the guitar, we've got the experience to help. Our guitar program is top notch, and we've even helped students win auditions into masters degree guitar programs at major universities.

Most of our students come to us after they have tried lessons somewhere else. They tried video courses or lessons that weren’t personlized for them – YouTube, Justin Guitar, Keith Urban, Fender, or TakeLessons. They took lessons with teachers who were not trained professionals.
And they just didn’t see the results they wanted.
They didn’t get better or ended up frustrated. They paid for videos but still had to teach themselves. They took lessons with someone who showed them what to do, but not how to do it.
And that left them unhappy. Feeling like they wasted time and money. So they looked for a better program.
The good news is that you’ve just found the #1 science backed program, guaranteed to get you results. That’s the Arpeggio® lessons system, designed right here at Sage Music®.
While they are similar, the three types of guitar are all slightly different. They require slightly different technique, and they are used for different music. If you need help choosing the right kind of guitar for your lessons, let us know. We’ll be happy to help.
We offer specialized lesson on the acoustic guitar. Whether you are looking to strum some chords while you sing, play fingerstyle guitar, or learn how to play in a band, we’ll design a program for your specific needs.
There are many different styles and shapes of acoustic guitar too, so we’d be happy to help you find the right one for you.
Having the right instrument will help you make the fastest progress possible in your lessons.
We take pride in our Classical Guitar program. Sage Music's founder is a nationally recognized teacher of classical guitar, director of the acclaimed NYC Guitar Orchestra, a professor of music at a the City University of New York and has over 30 world premieres to his credit.
Under his leadership, we are able to provide you with the highest level of classical guitar training, plus additional opportunities and access to the classical guitar world. Not only will you learn solid technique, but you will learn artistry and interpretation, and everything you need to know about the business of making music on the guitar.
The electric guitar offers a whole range of opportunities and sounds that are not possible on the acoustic or classical guitar, which we find very exciting!
In your lessons at Sage Music, you will learn not only the proper technique for playing the electric guitar, but also the ensemble skills you need to play with others, how to improvise and solo, and how to set up your amps and effects to get the best possible sound and tone. We take a holistic approach to your learning of the guitar.
