“When You Wish Upon a Star Makes No Difference Who You Are”

…Leigh Harline and Ned Washington

Dear Music lover,

Today as I sat down and spoke with yet another Sage Music student who is satisfied, happy, and well on their way to achieving their musical goals and aspirations …

I couldn’t help but think of the old Walt Disney song that was originally penned by Leigh Harline and Ned Washington for the movie Pinocchio way back in 1940.

The name of the song was…When You Wish Upon a Star

I smiled as I warmly pondered the lyrics in this classic number that really does represent what’s happening in the lives of so many of our students.

If you’ve never heard the song…the lyrics speak to the dreams and aspirations of so many…see if you can relate to them:

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you
If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do
Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing…

What about you?

Do you or someone you know have a secret longing to…

  • Play an instrument?
  • Learn to read music?
  • Gain entrance into a specific musical program?
  • Pass an audition?
  • Impress your family and friends?
  • Write music?
  • Sing?
  • Boost your confidence?

You see, if by chance you are not yet familiar with the extraordinary magic that occurs when you enroll as a student at Sage Music

You’ll be delighted to know that as a lover of all things music… my instructors who are among the most talented, caring and successful, thanks to our exclusive Arpeggio™ lesson system…

Are helping make the dreams and personal goals of music lovers just like you – come true, each and every day.

So how do our teachers help our students achieve their goals quicker and simpler than other music instructors?

We asked one of our piano instructors… Julian Hintz who explains it…

At Sage Music, we have many students who have taken lessons or even trial lessons at other schools.

They then come to Sage Music and stay with us for years. Why?

Well…all without exception tell us that we care about them as individuals and they feel they are making better and faster progress, and our community of like-minded music lovers is great…and of course… that their teachers rock!

But you know… don’t take my word for it…

Here’s a tiny sampling of what our wonderful body of students who range in age from 4 all the way up to….70… have to say about Sage.

CONT: from page 1…

As told to us by… Rob G.

“I was an experienced guitarist in many styles of music, like many others I’ve long felt I lacked the basic technique and focusing skills necessary to be fully in control of my playing and musical satisfaction in general.

Jason’s refreshing back-to basics, direct and supportive approach to technique has given my playing a new lease on life. It’s been well worth the trek from Park Slope to LIC and back each Saturday! A gigging guitarist on his Guitar Lessons at Sage Music School.”

As told by…  Avelyn H.

“My experience with Sage Music has been amazing. Jason and his team provides service that is above and beyond. They are willing to adapt and listen to your needs. They are passionate with what they do and it truly shows.

My 5-year-old daughter took piano lessons for over 6 months. I have to give all the credit to Sage Music for building the confidence in her as she now plays independently without much help.

I’m impressed with the technique taught by Sage despite the little fingers she has…. the key strokes are very precise. Thank you.”

Here’s an update from a student who recently joined Sage Music as told by guitar instructor Matt Kaplan:

Fred L. wanted to learn guitar with us for the first time and his first goal was to break through the glass ceiling of feeling confident with establishing a foundation of guitar for himself.

He is very artistic and always felt overwhelm with internet resources and the abundance of private instructors in NYC which prevented him from starting initially.

While we are still working on basics together, I checked in with him yesterday during his lesson and he expressed that he has been highly satisfied with his experience reaching that goal.

Fred has experienced the ARPEGGIO lesson system from the start and has done everything I’ve instructed him to do at a high level.

He also mentioned that he never expected his music lessons to influence his outside life but he has seen an improvement in his ability to stay focused, manage his time efficiently, and really enjoy the process of making music when he sits down to practice.

He is enjoying it so much so that he bought a new guitar for himself after renting one from us.”

Which brings me to this….
