We really can’t say enough good things about Sage. Not only are they affordable, but they go the extra mile to accommodate our ever-changing and hectic schedule.
I also want to give a special shout to Julian, our instructor. He is so patient and so kind ..and he has really tailored the lessons to our son’s interests. He’s an outstanding music teacher!
We tried a few other piano schools before this one but felt immediately comfortable at Sage. Even if you’re not in LIC, it’s worth the train ride!

“My experience with Sage Music has been amazing. Jason and his team provides service that is above and beyond. They are willing to adapt and listen to your needs. They are passionate with what they do and it truely shows. My 5 year old daughter took piano lessons for over 6 months. I have to give all the credit to Sage Music for building the confidence in her as she now plays independently without much help. I’m impressed with the technique taught by Sage despite the little fingers she has….the key strokes are very precise. Thank you!”

I was somewhat worried about starting piano lessons at 36 years old, but thankfully I found Sage Music. I couldn’t imagine a better place to learn music than with Jason and his team. They take the time to make sure you understand the mechanics (mental and physical) in playing an instrument, and the pace of learning is set by the individual. Highly recommend Sage Music.”

I have taken piano lessons for approximately 3 months with Jacob. During this time, Jacob has taught me with great patience and kindness. He is very understanding of your needs, and I can assure you that he is extremely knowledgeable in piano music.
Jacob makes you feel comfortable during your lessons and know that neither him or any other staff members will pass judgment on your abilities.
I can only say positive things about the staff.
Everyone has been super kind and they will always give you a warm welcome. I highly recommend this school for anyone who has the desire to learn to play an instrument.
Thank you for all of your support!

We believe that private piano lessons offer you the best chance for success. Group piano classes may appear to be more affordable, but they do not provide the same value as a private class. Would you prefer to have 100% of your teacher’s attention for 30 minutes, or 10% of their attention for an hour? In most cases our private lessons cost about the same as a longer group class.
Many piano schools in NYC offer group classes because they make more money, but these classes are unable to address your individual needs and goals. So while the price might look nice, the quality of the education is cheap. For these reasons we offer private lessons so that we can focus on you as we strive to be the best piano school of NYC.
We understand these group piano classes do provide benefits, such as the social element. For this reason we make sure to program recitals, events, parties, concerts and ensembles to provide these social opportunities to you. Music is always better in community!
Many of our students are interested in learning the music of the past masters of the piano like Brahms, Chopin, Liszt, Beethoven and Mozart. This music requires a high level of focus, precision, and skill. Our faculty, with master’s degrees in piano performance, have performed this music all over the world and gained the experience necessary to help you develop the skills you need to making meaningful and masterful performances of this great repertoire. Many of our students learn this music for fun, while others are preparing for Master’s Degree, College, or competitions like NYSSMA. Whatever your goals, we are happy to help you flourish as a classical pianist.
While some students choose the music of the past masters, we also have many students who prefer contemporary and popular music because it speaks to our time. Sometimes we create arrangements of U2, or the Beatles, or Billy Joel, or Coldplay for our students to learn and perform. If you want to play the music of today, you’ll learn a solid technique just like our classical students, but we’ll apply that to helping you play the music that you want to play. So if the contemporary piano is your style, we’d love to help you master it.
America’s classical music is jazz. And piano has a central role in playing jazz. Whether you want to play in a jazz combo or play solo jazz piano, we can help you. Learn proper techniqe. Read jazz standards. And learn to improvise.
We invite you to continue on your journey to becoming a better pianist. Join our many recitals, events, open mics, and group classes to meet others just like you.
